Sorting Balls Strategy: How to Solve the Hard Levels

A simple strategy for Sorting Balls: keeping a tube free, finding buried colors, and using undo well.

How Sorting Balls works

Sorting Balls gives you a set of tubes filled with mixed-up colored balls. You move balls one at a time until every tube holds only one color. You can only place a ball on top of the same color or in an empty tube. That single rule is what makes the harder levels so tricky.

Protect your empty tube

An empty tube is your most valuable tool. It gives you somewhere to put a ball while you dig down to the one underneath.

Try not to fill your last empty tube unless you're sure it helps. Losing it is the most common reason players get stuck.

Start with the buried colors

Look at the bottom of each tube before you begin. Colors buried at the bottom are the hardest to free, because you need to move everything above them first.

Plan around those early. If you know a color is buried deep, start working on freeing it while you still have space to move things around.

Finish one color at a time

Rather than shuffling balls everywhere, try to complete one tube at a time. A finished tube is one less thing to think about, and it often frees up space for the rest of the puzzle.

Use undo without guilt

There's an undo button, and it's there to be used. If a move leaves you stuck, step back and try something else. Experimenting is how you learn the tricks for harder levels.
